ATAG 2.0 — accessibility of authoring tools

ATAG is a W3C standard targeting authoring tools (CMSs, editors, page builders). Its aim: the tool itself must be accessible to use, and the content it produces must be accessible by default.

Two parts

Part A: the tool itself is accessible. Part B: the tool supports producing accessible content — providing alt fields, warning on issues, producing valid HTML.

Why it’s relevant

If you ship solutions where customers author content themselves (e-commerce platforms, intranets), ATAG is the right frame to ensure the system doesn’t bake in accessibility problems.
